I happened to mention my book, The Plight Before Christmas to a nurse who was giving me an IV treatment last week. The book won't be out for another two and a half months. That casual mention tweaked her interest, and since she is in a book club of 20 other other nurses, she asked if I would be willing to come out to one of their meetings.
Hmmmm... me, wine, and 20 women... I had to think about my answer for a millisecond or two.
The book club will be reading the book in November, and I will meet with them in December. Great timing for a book with a holiday theme.
That's a guaranteed 20 paperback sales, just form a casual mention of the book. It will probably mean more sales on the night I attend their meeting, for the attendees holiday gift giving, and it will probably add to the sales of my back list.
That casual mention will result in a very nice monetary return. Do the math. Seriously, would you do the math for me, I was never all that good at it.
So I encourage all of you who read this, see what you can generate for your book(s) by just making a few more casual mentions of it.
